The RTL flat is defined as the void between 2 deep partition walls, which contain all the tenant's items, devices and equipment. The walls can be shifted sideways. So, instead of many smaller spaces with specific functions, this dwelling is a singular, dynamic space with a function momentarily determined by the equipment selected from the walls. Pull out the bathtub and the TV set on a Sunday afternoon and the dwelling is a TV bath.

The process of regional urbanization can be seen as a
response to the emergence of a multicultural network society. Though many of
the inhabitants of the urban region choose to live in rural settings, nearly
all have direct access to most urban facilities. The infrastructures which
provide the accessibility also enable the formation of more or less autonomous
tribes and ghettos. Thus the urban region encompasses many different worlds,
co-existing without necessarily interconnecting.

In prehistoric times events occurred in slow motion, making
them incomprehensible to the human memory as part of a historic evolution. With
events now unfolding in fast forward motion, it becomes equally difficult to
maintain that sense of evolution.
